The Endurancelife Classic Quarter is a 44 mile Ultra Marathon along the south Cornish coast in the UK.

First hosted in 2007 each year the event grows in global reputation.

The task is brutally simple: to run non-stop from the southern most point of England (Lizard Point), to the western most tip (Land's End), along the legendary South West Coast Path. This translates to running 90 degrees of the compass, hence the name, Classic Quarter.

The challenge can be undertaken as a solo, relay team of two, or relay of four. The atmosphere is of keen and friendly rivalry.

Following 44 miles of the mesmerising South West Coast Path there are innumerable steep climbs and descents. This is the ultimate trail runner's rush, with spectacular exposure and challenging terrain all just a stones throw away from the potentially pounding Atlantic swells. There is also the unpredictable weather to contend with along the way and every runner must be well prepared, both mentally and physically.

Entries close three weeks before event date or when the event reaches capacity, whichever is sooner.

Solo and Relay Pairs must be 18 years of age or over on the event day, Relays of Four must be 16 years of age or over.

An optional bus service is available to transport solo participants from the finish location to the start location early on the event morning. This enables solo participants to take part without having to bring a driver or support person. When you get to the finish your car will be waiting for you - a big bonus after a tough day.

Booking for the bus will close at midday on Monday 15th May, or sooner if capacity is reached. Please do not delay in making your plans.

This service is an optional extra and costs £19. It is highly recommended and will improve your event experience. The bus fare also includes parking for the duration of the event at Lands End.

Charity Entries

The Classic Quarter will celebrate its tenth anniversary in 2017. In the first year, 60 brave souls set off from Lizard Point in a howling westerly gale, it was an epic day and resulted in £3000 being raised for Cornish Hospice Care (CHC). Over the years, many thousands of pounds have been raised.

There are concessionary entry rates of 50% available, if you pledge funds (minimum £300) for the hospice or any other registered charity.

By opting for the fundraising route we will be in touch with you before and after the event to keep track of your progress. Due to ease of administration, anyone who enters under this system (irrespective of which charity they are supporting) will have their name and contact details passed to CHC.

The event is not well served by public transport. We recommend lift sharing and the Endurancelife FB page is a good medium for this.
