Coastal Trail Series
>> Stage 4
Cornwall

Rugged, rocky, bleak and beautiful. On top of all the usual coastal drama, this course treats you to a good helping of mysticism; ancient stone circles and lay lines abound making this course as magical as it is monstrous!

"This course was pure joy to run. As soon as I had finished I wanted to turn round and do it all again, sadly my legs didn't feel the same!" Will Turner.

Introduction

The North Cornish Coast is home to the fourth event in the Endurancelife Coastal Trail Running Series, this course has all the usual coastal drama that characterises the series but also has a magical aspect too. The event takes place on the 15th March 2008 and is open to runners of all abilities over the age of 16. There are three distance categories; 10K, Marathon and Half Marathon. With several age categories and many spot prizes every competitor has the possibility of claiming their share of the £1000 prize pool. If you aren’t one of the lucky prize winners, you always have a cool event Tshirt, finishers medal and a great experience to take home with you.

In order not to put this sensitive landscape under undue pressure we limit the number of places to 500, so to avoid disappointment please book early.

Terrain

This is true mountain goat territory; the Coastal Path along this section of is famously varied and exposed to the power and majesty of the Atlantic.  The course passes through a UNESCO World Heritage Site in form of the West Cornwall Mining District, some of the best surviving examples of Cornish pump houses line the coast here and ancient hedges (granite walls) divide the fields producing a patchwork landscape that has inspired many artists and poets, enchanted by the quality of light and the rich history of farming and mining.

Spring comes early to this special place and is announced by daffodils in the fields and vivid yellow splashes of gorse. March is a blue, green and gold month, with breathtaking views and the scent of gorse in the air.  It is the perfect time of year for trail running.
