The Location
England’s grandest and most popular National Park, the Lake District, is the latest addition to the Coast 2 Coast Adventure Race Series portfolio. Situated in the north-west of England, this wonderful natural playground, also known as the Lakes or Lakeland, is a haven for adventure junkies, outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers and walkers alike. With its expansive landscape of mountains and moorland, dotted with innumerable rivers and tarns, it is certainly the most spectacular region in the country.
Within this mountainous region lies England’s highest peak, Scafell Pike at 978m (3,209 ft), and numerous other peaks of significant height. As its name suggests, the Lake District is blessed with many beautiful lakes; including England’s largest natural lake, Lake Windermere. This superb terrain is suited to a wealth of activities and adventure opportunities. It is a definite ‘must-do’ on any self-respecting adventure racers’ or outdoor enthusiasts’ list.
